This is a great classic stop watch. No digital stuff, no batteries. Perfect for us old timers!

Mechanical Stop Watch -- 2010-04-19
Just what I was looking for. A bit heavy and thick but the price is right. Was shipped immediately and arrived in perfect condition.

Just not well built :( -- 2010-04-14
The cost is probably in the fact that it's so difficult to find an analog stopwatch these days, not in it's build quality.

So, I bought this for my son (10) and he loved it right off. But before I could get him a lanyard (it does not come with one), he dropped it from a good 2.5ft in the kitchen and the glass broke. I mean we all have watches, and they seem to last the test of time ;)...even the cheap ones. Folks be careful, this is nothing more than an ornament. It's not waterproof, rustproof, or shatter proof (nor do they claim it). It's just a cheaply made stop watch. If you really want something that will last through the years or at least seasons, than look elsewhere.

If you're set on this one...GET A LANYARD FIRST!!!!

My husband LOVES his stop watch -- 2010-03-19
Originally I purchased a digital stop watch, from another source. It was too complicated and ugly. Returned the original and got this one... everyone is happy

Required Tool for 3D Animation -- 2010-02-26
When I had to get myself a stop watch for timing out frames of animation for my 3D artwork, I had to make a choice. I can get myself a Plastic digital, or go with something more classic looking are far more pleasing to the eye for reading.

Now I'm not a sporty person, I really don't care much for knowing just how fast I can push myself. and up until recently I didn't even realize that a lot could happen with in the span of a single second until I started working with my 3D modeling program on the animation end of things.

It had become clear to me that a good quality stop watch was needed for figuring out how many Frames I needed for any given action.

Either I'd have to visualize the action taking place and timing how long that took too take place, or by actually getting up out of my chair and acting it all out on my own. Once i have a good accurate measure of time, I can apply the following.

Time * FPS = How many frames I need for the animation segment.

most, if not almost all, bits of my animation fall with in the 0.5 - 2.0 second range so a big clunky ugly plastic digital was not really needed. Also If I was going to go through with this investment, Might as well have something solid and pleasing to both the eye and touch.

I went with this one, and I must say I am very pleased with the results. It really helps a lot with my animation timing, and keeps the flow of activity steady and clean. I still look funny acting out my scenes holding a stopwatch, but at least people realize I not completely crazy when I look down to see how long it took to act it all out and run back to my computer while ranting off a little math.

A stopwatch is almost a vital required tool to the animator that a good stop watch should come standard in the box with any 3D program some one might be willing to shell out a couple thousand bucks for. Oh well, I have one now and I happy with it.
