Fits my workouts nicely! -- 2010-03-06
This bar has fit my crossfit workouts nicely. I will NOT get anywhere near the rated weight capacity of this bar. But, with that being said, it is certainly a HUGE step over a standard 600 lb olympic bar. It's a very solid design and the ends of the bar are sealed (no worrying about tightening those annoying allen wrench screws on the ends of the bar)! I have used this bar for deadlifts up to the 330 lb mark and of course, I wasn't even close to it's rating. Since I use my bar for Crossfit / Metcon workouts, I do my fair share of Olympic style lifts. With my bumper plates on, I have no worries when I release (a controlled drop) of my weight from an overhead position (doing overhead push presses at 175 lbs). Just as a side note, I am NOT using metal weights. They are rubber bumper plates. The floor in my home gym is also not your typical garage concrete floor. It's 3/4" pine subflooring with 3/4" rubber gym mat flooring on top. That "softens" the blow a bit when I'm dumping this bar on my heavy workouts. The ends of the bar were not as pictured. The ends are not perfectly smooth but rather they are grooved. Very tiny grooves that make for a really good grip when attaching my Lock Jaw type barbell collars. The main part of the bar is the matte black color (as pictured here on Amazon). The knurling is flawless. I would definitely recommend this bar to those in the crossfit community.
Not quite the expected quality.... -- 2009-12-29
When the bar arrived, it was in perfect condition... I checked the bearings, the straightness of the bar, everything. I wanted to test the tensile strength, so I loaded all 625 lb of weight that i own. It bowed when all the weight was on it, as expected, but when I took the weight off, the center of the bar was probably displaced a whole 1/2 centimeter -- and all the weight was on it for maybe 30 seconds! If I would have done some deadlifts, the bar would have been destroyed. I rolled the bar on the safety rails and watched it wobble away. I was so furious I called the distributor and requested a refund with a free pickup.
My opinion: pay the $200 for a York Power Barbell (1200lb) and save yourself the headache. This bar looks great, but it definitely is no 1000-lb barbell, even at static weight.

Got what I ordered -- 2009-08-17
A 44-lb. 7-ft Olympic bar that I intend to spend some serious quality time with over the years. The grease everyone's writing about protects the metal during shipment - just be thankful it isn't cosmoline! I de-bagged the bar onto my squat rack and was able to wipe it off without getting it everywhere.
poor quality -- 2009-08-12
The bar I received weighed 36 lbs not the 44 lbs advertised. Also the diameter on one bar end was not sized consistently. The spring collar would fit fine towards the end of the bar but when it was placed up near the barbell plates the spring collar was loose and would rotate freely. Called the seller and they are picking up the bar at no cost to me which I appreciate.

What can I say? This is exactly what I was looking for. Brand new, 7' olympic barbell. Delivery took less than a week. The barbell oil is was the true tell-tale of quality.
